I disagree however that moving away from open-licensing or moving to more restrictive CC-licensing is the answer. I think that frees the individual of labour by putting more labour on others and on the community.

It takes one to a place of implied ownership over the ideas and knowledge that you produce which I think is antithetical to the idea of the commons.
