    1. A lot of people seem to be saying they'd rather have an edit function on Twitter than 280 characters. I vehemently disagree.

    An edit function would be massively abused. Not only could it be used to gaslight people but it would exacerbate our 'post-truth' problems.

      Let's imagine I'm a Nazi. I tweet an innocuous joke or picture of a cat that gets loads of RTs. I then edit it to say something offensive.

        Let's say Donald Trump tweets something stupid and inflammatory. Instead of being a monument to his unfitness to hold office, he edits it.

          A developer once said, when designing software functions, you should imagine how 4chan users will use that function. Imagine how 4chan users would use an edit function on Twitter.
