We went to Vatican City yesterday and I didn't expect to care about this but I found all the souvenir tat shops clustered around Piazza San Pietro really distasteful. Those old Methodist sensibilities coming out. Not to mention the unhoused people living under the Vatican walls.On Internet Archive

Also perturbed that they had loads of Papa Francesco merch, a moderate amount of JPII merch, but only one piece of Benedict merch. Sure, he was a bad Pope and a quitter but does he not also deserve merch?Permalink On Internet Archive
