@Siobhan_M_HQ It's complicated. Copyright does technically apply but libraries tend to ignore it to encourage a collegiate atmosphere of data sharing. I don't think that collegiate atmosphere amounts to much when practically records are in the servers of private companies...On Internet Archive

@Siobhan_M_HQ ...either library systems providers or union catalogue providers. When a company like Ex Libris or OCLC could suddenly shut off access to those records or delete them all, they actually 'own' them despite what copyright law would say.Permalink On Internet Archive
