      1. There's a fascinating case study in symbolism and symbols becoming disconnected from their origins in Paddington Bear. It (sort of) made sense for Paddington to be a psychopomp for the former Queen since she 'met' him in one short sketch. But the King? He's never met Paddington. @HLThompson93/1755155476851953780

      Of course I'm reading a sincerity into this image that isn't present in the more ironic memes of Paddington leading away Diane from The Traitors or the Captain Tom spa complex or Liz Truss, etc.

    There's also a layer of infantilisation that I never cared for. I didn't even like the former Queen and I thought it was weirdly disrespectful to continually associate her with this children's character. @SimonXIX/1569236959498801153
