The West Coast Main Line is a shockingly fragile single-point-of-failure running the length of the country. As luck would have it, I just got my Delay Repay from yesterday's Avanti West Coast journey from GLC to COV which was 71 mins delayed on the way down and 10 mins late on the way back. Unbelievable that their contract was renewed. England's infrastructure is falling apart.Permalink On Internet Archive

I say 'England' because, though Scotland's infrastructure needs work, I find publicly-owned ScotRail generally pretty reliable. Every train has a guard to answer questions, they communicate well, and I've only claimed Delay Repay from them once in almost two years here.Permalink On Internet Archive
