The West Coast Main Line is a shockingly fragile single-point-of-failure running the length of the country. It should be a national scandal that we're not building more railway lines to shore it up and prevent twelve hour train journeys from England to Scotland. @_Sobieski/1717599413328064871

As luck would have it, I just got my Delay Repay from yesterday's Avanti West Coast journey from GLC to COV which was 71 mins delayed on the way down and 10 mins late on the way back. Unbelievable that their contract was renewed. England's infrastructure is falling apart.

I say 'England' because, though Scotland's infrastructure needs work, I find publicly-owned ScotRail generally pretty reliable. Every train has a guard to answer questions, they communicate well, and I've only claimed Delay Repay from them once in almost two years here.

Also the Scottish Government settled the industrial dispute with the workers months ago so there's no strikes.
