Yesterday we went on a boat trip around Craigleith and Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth. Both are important sites for nesting seabirds and Bass Rock is the largest colony of Northern Gannets in the world. Bass Rock is not made of white rock: those are Gannets.
And then Bass Rock, the world's largest Northern Gannet colony. The cliffs contain the nests of 150,000 Gannets with approx. 2 nests per square metre. The smell of their nests and their guano was intense even from offshore.
