My employer's message about UCU's upcoming strike action not only lays out the excessively punitive measures they'll take against ASOS but strongly implies that striking employees need to inform department heads /before/ we strike. This is not true.

Be honest about your participation after the strike but you're under no obligation to inform your line manager or any other manager if you intend to strike or even if you're in a union. Don't allow them to prepare cover for you. It's supposed to be disruptive.

The full email says they'll deduct pay for all strike days (obviously) but also threatens consequences to our pensions and to our annual leave allowance as well as withholding full pay for working-to-contract which the message calls "partial performance".
