  1. My university contacted me about an annual password change (itself a bad security practice) so I dutifully ran through the process and got an error message at the end. IT's documentation says don't worry if you get that error message, it's an issue with Microsoft authentication.

      Great, I'm sure the institution isn't paying whopping great license fees for this Microsoft software that IT have to apologise for in their own documentation.

        A few hours later and 90% of the data issues I've been dealing with today have come down to 'Microsoft Excel adds / removes this data element for no discernible reason when saving a file and doesn't tell you'.
