Working with pycountry today, a Python module for parsing country data. Since it's based on ISO 3166 country codes, I feel the need to code in explanations around names of disputed territories like "Taiwan, Province of China".Permalink On Internet Archive

It's a great module though. It presents little Unicode flags automatically for each country though it's annoying that there's no Unicode flags for e.g. the German Democratic Republic or the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.Permalink On Internet Archive
