We're watching some ultra-conservative cowboy film on Netflix and it's a fascinating insight into how conservative America imagines themselves and liberals. It also turns out to be funded by an oil and cattle company. 🙃

The 'bad guy' is a "progressive" liberal councilman who opposes the rodeo outside town, is super sanctimonious, and makes his family be vegetarian. The filmmakers very much imagined a guy to be mad at.
-
The love interest of our hero cowboy is a young woman about to go to college and I'm very concerned that the film hasn't explicitly stated what age she is.
-
lol, the human rights activist strawman character brought in to object to the rodeo is called Gary Smut.

I'm more anti-rodeo now at the end of the film than I was going into this film funded by the pro-rodeo lobby. Those little cows didn't look very happy.
