Writing a paper contrasting Yellowjackets and Lost has me thinking about how remarkable it seems now that a prestige drama series would have a 20+ episode season. Even in retrospect, Lost seems to me to have so much padding and cruft outside its core narrative.

Lost feels like the real tipping point between relatively contained 'monster-of-the-week' series like The X-Files and Star Trek: The Next Generation and continuous serialised series like Game of Thrones.
