Concluding thoughts: FromSoftware games, especially Dark Souls and Bloodborne, have always been about killing gods subtextually but Elden Ring goes super-explicit with it. Multiple characters talk about killing God and the last words on screen are 'GOD SLAIN'.

There's an article in me about the post-existentialist undercurrent of FromSoftware's obsession with killing God and the perpetual choice that the games offer of either replacing the gods or destroying the current order completely.

Elden Ring's story and world feels very much like FromSoftware's general thing—a world abandoned by the gods and shattered by war—but if you squint you can see George R. R. Martin's influence in characters with multiple names / identities and the medieval English factions.

Anyway, I got the ending where I ended up consort to a four-armed witch voiced by the lass from Detectorists. Might try a NG+ playthrough for another ending after a wee break.
