      1. Watching STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE and I still contend that, despite not being terribly well-regarded, it's one of the most interesting Star Trek films in terms of aesthetics. Space is represented as a terrifying unknowable similar to 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY.

      I also like films and shows that represent how travel — space travel in this case — takes a lot of time. Travel is a process and often a slow process (he writes on a long train journey down the length of the UK).

    STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE is so much better than it's given credit for. Who among us doesn't want to portentously travel through a weird cloud for fifteen whole minutes?
