Watching STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE and I still contend that, despite not being terribly well-regarded, it's one of the most interesting Star Trek films in terms of aesthetics. Space is represented as a terrifying unknowable similar to 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY.

STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE is so much better than it's given credit for. Who among us doesn't want to portentously travel through a weird cloud for fifteen whole minutes?
