    1. Is anyone writing in the 'horse-racing crimes' genre since Dick Francis passed or did that subgenre completely die with him?

    Incredibly 'Dick Francis novels' are still being published but since they're written by Dick Francis' son, I'm not sure how these all earn the subtitle 'A Dick Francis Novel'.

      The conclusion I'm reaching is that 'Dick Francis novel' is the name of the 'horse-racing crimes' subgenre. He so monopolised this subgenre that his name still specifies this entire category (and family business) of literature.

        This must be annoying for John Francome who also writes in the 'horse-racing crimes' subgenre with some excellent 'horse-racing crimes' titles.
