ALIEN is a perfect film. We watched the 1979 theatrical release this time and I think it's better than the 2003 director's cut. Dallas disappearing works better with the film's exploration of space and the Unknown than Dallas' euthanasia in the director's cut.Permalink On Internet Archive

Rewatched PROMETHEUS for the first time in years last night. Buoyed along on the fumes of my residual nostalgia for the film but, good grief, the dialogue is diabolical and the production design is light years away from anything in ALIEN.On Internet Archive

There's the recurrent Lost-era Lindelof obsessions with science vs. faith and father issues. It all feels so staid and familiar even while every character continually says out loud how momentous it all is (as well as stating what they're thinking and feeling at all times).Permalink On Internet Archive
