I have all next week off and, honestly, we've done more than I expected in the last two days so I'll have loads of free time next week for tiny-gardening in my new tiny-garden space.

It's fun to imagine what the previous owners of this place were like based on their decorating and aesthetic choices. This is certainly a choice.

Big furniture day. Assembled the dining table and chairs and ordered myself the most beautiful vintage cocktail cabinet. It was more than I was looking to spend but it's /exactly/ what I was looking for and we saved so much on stamp duty thanks to Dishy Rishi so...

Wednesday: 💿 Physical media cabinet assembled. 🖌️ Final touch-ups on living room walls. 💺 Office chair assembled. 🔐 Latch fitted on annoying loose cabinet. Not too much because I forgot that I own a drill but no drill bits so curtains etc. have to wait until bits arrive.

Mattress delivered. We're upgrading to king-size so we can stretch out! As podcast hosts ourselves, we got one of those mattress brands that sponsor seemingly every podcast. But not ours so no buzz marketing for them.

It was a hard day but all days end. Three trips with the rental van. 30-plus degree heat. A lot of water. A narrowly avoided penalty charge notice for parking. But it's done. We're moved in.

Classic locked room mystery at 0130 this morning when I got up to check on Leon and found that he'd seemingly disappeared from the closed flat without a trace. Eventually found him in a small hidey hole under the kitchen cupboards.

Plumber came today and cleared the drains so I can finally do a load of deeply sweaty laundry. And then put it out to dry on our fancy balcony? No! We have an even fancier washer-dryer now so I'll see how well that does.

We previously lived in a furnished rental so had to buy all our furniture for this place. We focused on essentials first like bed, fridge-freezer, washing machine, sofa. Today we have a load of non-essentials arriving which, after a week without them, feel a lot more essential.

Broadband speeds at the new place have been intolerably slow, like 1-3Mbps. I checked openreach yesterday and called EE about fibre and was told it was coming soon. I checked again today and fibre is apparently now ready!
