  1. #GameOfThronesFinale discussion time. The last episode was about as good as it could have been given the narrative decisions and character choices made in the preceding season. That sounds like damning with faint praise but I really enjoyed it and respected the decisions it made.

#GameOfThronesFinale The show wrote itself into a position where these were the most narratively satisfying endings for these characters. Is the season as a whole narratively satisfying? Not really. But that's to do with how the show diverged from the books.

#GameOfThronesFinale There's some stuff in the finale that makes no sense. As if Dorne is just going to sit there while the North declares - and gets - independence. Come on. But, whatever, the show is about characters now rather than sociopolitics so fine.

#GameOfThronesFinale When (/ If) GRRM finishes the books, the ending will be totally different. I've seen GRRM compared to a gardener: he plants seeds and then lets the narrative grow out as it will. There are seeds in the books that weren't planted in the show e.g. fAegon.

#GameOfThronesFinale The show drifted towards spectacle and traditional character writing as it went on and away from sociopolitics and 'realism' of a medieval setting. But it was always entertaining.

#GameOfThronesFinale And Ramin Djawadi continued his unbroken streak of brilliance as the composer of the show's soundtrack. An incredible composer and one of the best working in popular entertainment today.

#GameOfThonesFinale The track 'The Iron Throne' in particular is an incredible combination of various leitmotifs from the series. The scene it comes from - Drogon and the throne - is spectacular nonsense and this track is an absolute highlight open.spotify.com/track/5lboLByEnvwxLmWjTS2dfp
