  1. I've been doing some digging up of our family tree on Ancestry. The ancestors coming to the north-west from Aberdeenshire, Doncaster, and Dublin are no surprise but the ancestors on my maternal grandfather's side from County Sligo and County Tipperary are unexpected.

      Going back far enough, the Scottish Barrons are a sept of Clan Rose (I wore one of their tartans for my wedding). All the Barrons I've traced are Lowland living around Aberdeenshire and Rose is a Highland clan so I'm curious as to how that came about.
