I watched both Black Panther (2018) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018) on the train home. One is an apotheosis of superhero films with respectful allusions to racial and colonial issues; the other is dozens of people ineffectively punching a purple man made in a computer.

On second watch, I still don't get Infinity War. The soundtrack and cinematography are incredibly generic. No characters get time to breathe so it does a disservice to all of them especially the Guardians. And the finale makes it obvious that narratively none of it matters.
