  1. I finally played The Beginner's Guide (2015) from the developer behind The Stanley Parable (2011). It's an astonishing piece of video game art blending Borges' Labyrinths with Infinite Jest's filmography footnote and with an overall post-postmodern New Sincerity subtext.

I loved it and I think anyone who takes video games seriously as a medium should play it.

Other literary influences are telegraphed in a sequence where you have to tidy books on a bookshelf: specific books I noticed include Calvino's Invisible Cities, Orlean's The Orchid Thief (adapted into Adaptation (2002)), and, I think, Danielewski's House of Leaves.
