    1. Talking to @lawsonstu last week helped to clarify my approach to talking about open-access and open-source licensing. My approach explicitly comes from a place of anti-capitalist praxis and I need to acknowledge that more in my work on open-source and open-access.

    Previously I've tended to adopt the language of neoliberalism - "the oppressor’s language" (Rich, 1971) - to describe the economic, practical, and business benefits of open-source licensing but fundamentally I support it as a means to dismantle the power of capitalist entities.

      Seeing the explicitly pro-capitalist comments of that Elsevier exec on Twitter this week brought this home for me. I am explicitly anti-capitalist, my work contributes to that ethical standpoint, and I need to articulate that better.
