        1. This example of the Welsh Government's library creating Marc records for tweets stored in PDF form seems like a classic example of library workers' thoughts on processes and workflows being stymied by bad systems and standards infotoday.eu/Articles/Editorial/Featured-Articles/Archiving-and-preserving-tweets-using-a-Library-Management-System--126129.aspx

Preserving tweets is not an inherently bad idea. But the process they were forced into because they wanted to work within the Soutron LMS and within the parameters of Marc standards is a batshit way to store structured data.

Libraries adjust their processes and their workflows to fit their systems and standards when we should be changing our systems and standards to fit our processes.

This isn't something that I haven't seen before in university libraries too. I've seen Marc records for laptop charging leads and wired mice because staff thought it was the best way to lend hardware. Because lending always happens in the LMS and the LMS demands Marc.
