Leave No Trace (2018) is a really beautiful film in the sub-genre that I already love of people-seeking-to-escape-society-and-just-live-in-the-woods films. See also: Captain Fantastic (2016), Swiss Army Man (2016), and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016).

But Leave No Trace is the serious version of those films. And it's about so much more beyond seeking to escape mundane, bullshit-jobs, modern capitalism. It's about trauma and community and allowing yourself to ask for help and loving one another.

As a film, it's so still and quiet. The focus is on the performances and conveying emotion through visuals. It's simply beautiful and it's a great film from director, Debra Granik.

Anyway, go see it if you can. I was fully choked up during the third act with full-on bawling during the beehive metaphor. "If you put you hand here, you can feel the warmth of the hive."
